Abstract : The goal of this research is to investigate whether there is a significant diff erence between Technology support project based instruction and project based instruction designed science instruction on 7th grade students’ of State Primary School in Istanbul. Two classes, each with 35 students were randomly selected and this study was conducted during 2006-2007.The experimental group was instructed though Computer Supported PBL strategies, whereas the control group was utilized with traditional PBL methods. The measurement instrumentsutilized were a Product File Evaluation Form (Portfolio), a Peer Evaluation Form a Science Achievement Test, and Computer Achievment Test.

As a result of this study, it was found that academic achievements of the students and their successes in developing products diff ered from each other with regard to the training methods employed. According to the results it was determined that in general the academic achievements of the students who were subjected to project based computer aided learning method are significantly higher than the students who were subjected to conventional project based learning method. In addition to the foregoing no significant diff erentiation was observed in respect of impacts of gender characteristics neither on the academic achievements of the students nor on their successes in product file development
