Abstract :

Using technology is an indispensable thing in this technological age as it has positive contributions to the educational environments. One of its positive contributions to the educational environments is that diff erent types of learners can take advantage of the technology thanks to its various learning styles. Currently, new technologies have become available for the use of people unlike the old days. Thanks to the developments of technology, technologies for language teaching have also become a part of classroom settings. In addition, the language programs are applied for the learner types who can not only benefit from the technology but also have the tendency to benefit from technology.

In this sense, it provides various advantages for both instructors and learners. As for the instructors, it enables the opportunity of observing the outcomes of the teaching in both classroom and asynchronous settings. At the same time, as for the learners, the appropriate usage of technology can be of vital help. Particularly, new generation distance learning is of great help to the language teaching in terms of what it can provide and what language teaching asks for. In addition to these benefits, the learners can find easier ways to exhibit their own learning styles. The multimedia is such a tool, which can provide new dimensions for the instructors. The content of multimedia is beneficial as it not only introduces new ways to teaching but also gives chances for the learners to improve and apply their knowledge actively. Hence, the learning and teaching tool applied in this study can provide both learners and instructors with these opportunities. In this educational model, “Glogster” has been used to improve the reading-writing integrated skills of the language learners as a distance learning website. After the introduction of the model, a questionnaire about their daily use of the computers and their attitudes towards technology were given to the learners.

The results of the present study shed light onto the idea that the use of such a tool with suitable language theories can create an environment in which the learners and instructors meet and work collaboratively for the goals of language learning at the same time. Furthermore, the desire to integrate technology into learning process as a facilitator attracts the attention of both the learners and instructors. The results suggest that “Glog” can be an eff icient tool for the learners while learning English via a distance tool.
