Abstract :

ICT, as an integral part of modern educational process, off ers new opportunities that lead to an increase in the eff iciency of teaching and improvement in the students’ learning process, especially in science courses. Using ICT, students are able to understand basic and advanced science concepts in a way that is more acceptable for them. On one side, using ICT, teachers can customize their own teaching materials and thus have more control over the material used in the classroom, but this means more creativity and a lot of hard work. On the other side, students can use already prepared teaching materials, allowing them to concentrate on higher-level problems, not just basic, trivial problems. Studying the developed teaching materials, students get ideas for making their own examples.
Most students have diff iculties in mastering science concepts, mostly because the understanding of science concepts implies the ability for abstraction and visualization of problem that is analyzed.

In this case, computer simulations help the students to understand how thing works and to try out diff erent situations. This keeps students motivated and interested. It is also important that students have access to online teaching materials on different hardware (e.g. laptop, mobile phone) so they can learn in diff erent environments. Models and simulations often use a variety of interactive tools (Flash, web tools, etc.), as well as dynamic software. This paper presents the use of ICT in teaching physics, through several examples from the topic Electrical Charges and Forces. The examples explain the application of Coulomb’s law, are simulated using the interactive free dynamic software application Geogebra, and are uploaded on a Wikispaces wiki page, together with detailed theoretical (mathematical) explanation of each particular problem. Although GeoGebra is primarily used as a tool for solving mathematical problems, in this paper we want to show that it can be also used as a tool for solving and visualization of various problems in the field of physics.

The simulated examples using GeoGebra allow students to study and analyze the relations between bodies and the forces acting between them, and also to make their own conclusions. The Wikispaces wiki is used as a classroom website and resource for collaborative work between students and teacher, and between students themselves. In this way, they share knowledge and ideas which lead to acquiring new knowledge, encouraging creative thinking and increasing motivation. The simulations are used by the students in addition to classical teaching for better visualization of problems, and thus an easier mastery of the subject matter.
